If I'm peckish, I'll make porridge with honey or a smoothie with frozen berries and bananas. I use rice and soya milk, but I'm not totally non-dairy, and sometimes I like nothing better than a poached egg. I've always been a vitamin junkie. I take artichoke tablets, a colloidal supplement and a shot glass of chlorophyll liquid, which is good for the immune system. Recently I did this fantastic thing called Best-Test, where you put a copper tube in one hand and have electrodes attached to your fingers. It's meant to test everything from hormone levels to food intolerances. The results showed I was deficient in lots of areas, so I ended up taking all these new supplements. I'm a bit gullible when it comes to things like that. I just believe everything.
Before I wash, I always body-brush. I love aromatherapy and all the essential oils, so if I've got time for a bath I'll add a few drops of grapefruit or basil, or maybe lavender if I'm feeling anxious. I use Aveda products on my hair and I'm careful about my skin, because I've had problems with it in the past. Most of the time I'm casual about what I wear, so it's usually just jeans. My favourites are the ones I've got on, by Adriano Goldschmidt. When I need to dress up, my No 1 designer is Marc Jacobs.
Three mornings a week I drive to my gym in Mayfair. I've got a silver BMW Z3 and I love it to bits. The cost of parking in that part of London is ridiculous: £4 an hour. I went through a phase of getting a ticket each week, because I'd put £7 in the meter to cover my 90-minute workout, then wouldn't get back to the car in time. Now, I just put an extra pound in. Matt Roberts, my trainer, takes me through a circuit of cardio-exercise, boxing, kick-boxing and weights, and though I'm often grumpy going in, I always feel great coming out.
Being in town, I'll often drive to my manager's office to deal with requests and schedules and sign any fan stuff. With the release of my new album, it's an exciting time for me, because I'm doing what I love best - singing. Realistically, I know I probably wouldn't be in this position if it hadn't been for the success of the Spice Girls, but that period of my life is a distant memory now - it's almost like it didn't happen. Don't get me wrong, I'm very proud of being one of the Spice Girls, and I had a wonderful ride, but I guess I've left that all behind now; my transformation is complete.
It's been well documented that it wasn't an easy transformation for me: after the break-up of the group I suffered with depression and exhaustion and got to the stage where I was crying all the time and couldn't get out of bed. I had a hard time dealing with issues like my weight and self-esteem; I think they were related to the fact that for many years I was trying to be someone I wasn't. Healing from all that hasn't been easy. Now, I've learnt to accept myself, do what's right for me, what's comfortable. I'm just trying to be my own role model.Lately I've been having a lot of soup for lunch. I also stock up on dried fruit and nuts, because I tend to graze on them throughout the day.
I drink a lot of oxygenated water, otherwise it's aloe vera juice or maybe a herbal tea - nettle tea is good for water retention.
All my afternoons are spent rehearsing with my band; they're a great bunch and I have such a scream. Singing feels such a natural thing for me to do, and a big reason for that is my mum. I grew up watching her sing, because she was in a covers band and they played in social clubs and pubs all the time. She'd do mainly rock and soul - you know, songs by Tina Turner and Bryan Adams - and I guess it got me hooked. For my last birthday, a whole group of family and friends went to watch her sing at a pub in Liverpool. I'm so proud of her.
I'll leave rehearsals between six and seven and, if I can fit it in, I might do a session of Bikram yoga, which is where you sit in a heated room and go through 26 postures. I also do Ashtanga yoga at home.
I'm usually the one to cook, so maybe it'll be a prawn or chicken stir-fry or swordfish and salad. If we're out, I like nothing better than steak and chips. Thankfully, I'm no longer caught up in the heady craziness of fame and all its trappings. I appreciate a lifestyle that keeps me grounded.
I'm a bit of a telly-head in the evenings. I watch all the soaps, and I love Footballers' Wives, Sex and the City, Friends, Frasier, Six Feet Under. It annoys Tom because I'll constantly shush him when he's trying to talk to me. He's great, though - we met in Barbados two Christmases ago. There's also a telly in the bedroom, so I confess I'll often watch it in there too. The best thing, though, is I sleep like a baby now. It's wonderful. It must be a sign that I'm enjoying life again.
