Treatments include the Hemingway package – a facial, massage and bloody mary for the morning after the night before – and the Back Tone and Tonic, to keep backs spot-free.

Murdock at Liberty, a charmingly trad barbers complete with authentic vintage leather chairs. Perfect if the mood takes you to have a wet shave or new hairdo while out shopping for designer clobber.

Dandy Brown’s in Leeds (www.dandybrowns.com), a slick, men-only salon where you can kick back with a free beer and enjoy the quirky treatment menu. Try the Dapper Dan, a predate makeover that includes an express facial, shave and manicure.

We challenge you to walk through Selfridges’ beauty hall without hearing people discuss the new Tom Ford for Men eau de toilette. Its opening citrus burst gives way to a hard-to-resist, warm and resinous scent. Sure to be a box-office smash.
