The man, the films, those blondes. Free DVD collection starting this Sunday

The first pictures of the inside of the London home where two brilliant French academics were tortured to death show the carefree life enjoyed by the men before they were attacked by a suspected intruder.
Laurent Bonomo and Gabriel Ferez, both 23, were killed in a frenzied attack at the apartment exactly a week ago. Mr Bonomo is pictured in the bedroom and kitchen of his flat in New Cross, South London.
He is also seen using the black Packard Bell laptop computer stolen six days for the murders during a burglary which is at the heart of the police investigation.
The friends were attacked while Mr Ferez was visiting Mr Bonomo to watch the final of football's Euro 2008 and to play on two Sony PSP games consoles, which were stolen on the night of the murders. Police believe an intruder entered the flat using a set of keys taken during the burglary.
The photographs appear on a social networking page of Mr Bonomo’s girlfriend, Mary Bertez. She has written a poignant message to her finance saying: “My love I have loved you, I love you and I will love you all my life.”
The couple are shown sharing a tender kiss and embracing as Mr Bonomo gives Miss Bertez a Gucci ring bag. She later told friends at her joy of being engaged.
Just weeks before the murders Miss Bertez visited her finance in London during which they went to various tourist attractions including the Sherlock Holmes museum.
Miss Bertez, 23, is shown outside the Baker Street museum dressed as the famous detective while her boyfriend wears Dr Watson’s bowler hat. Mr Bonomo is also pictured inside the museum dressed as Holmes and Ms Bertez is later shown enjoying a pint of beer outside a traditional British pub.
Detectives have described the murders, during which the men were tied up stabbed a total of 243 times before the flat was firebombed, as like “a scene from a Tarantino movie”. By coincidence, Miss Bertez lists Quentin Tarantino’s violent Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill: Vol 2 as her favourite movies.
Mr Bonomo and Mr Ferez were bio-chemistry students were in the second year of a three-year Master's degree at the Clermont-Ferrand Polytech in Central France. They were in London on a three-month research project at Imperial College which was due to end later this month.
Miss Bertez’s album also contains the first pictures of the men together and they enjoy their lives in London and shows them at Mr Ferez’s home in South Norwood, South London, drinking champagne to celebrate their exam results. Miss Bertez is student at Valenciennes University in northern France
Yesterday Mr Ferez’s parents appealed for help in finding their son’s killers.
Francoise and Olivier Ferez, from Amiens, Northern France, said: “The events that have happened are still painful to us. We are trying to come to terms with it all.
“We know what happened to our son may have been the result of someone or some people whose psychological state of mind was disturbed. But, as parents, we need the police to find the guilty parties for us to have some kind of explanation."
They made a direct plea to those who committed the crime to turn themselves in, saying: “You will not be able to live in hiding forever. You may be scared and feel like a coward, but you must recognise this terrible mistake you made. Rest assured that we will not leave you in peace”
The statement also paid tribute to the men and called on the people of London to be “vigilant against crime”.
“If you know of anything unusual or suspicious that may help in this investigation - someone acting strangely, something you overheard, someone who has gone missing - please do report this to police.
“Finally, we ask that you protect your children and protect yourselves. It is too late for Gabriel, an angel who is now a victim after giving us 23 years of love and who was always ready to help others around him. His friend Laurent was alike.
"Please help us to reveal the truth. Help us to know, to understand and to come to terms with our loss. We still have a long way to go on earth. Gabriel had a sister and a young brother who are now crying from their loss.
"We ask our friends: the British people, please help us."
His girlfriend, Magali Bonnans, a 23-year-old student, has spent the past week staying with her boyfriend's best friend Antoine Galloux and his family in France, too grief-stricken to come to London. She met Mr Ferez two years ago when both were students on the same molecular science course at the Clermont-Ferrand Polytech in Central France. Students at the university will tomorrow hold a silent vigil in memory of the men.
Scotland Yard detectives are preparing to make fresh appeals for information tonight, exactly a week after the murders. A 21-year-old man arrested on Saturday morning was released this afternoon with no further action.

This is a very shocking crime, that has happened to two of my compatriot. But reality is that everyday horrific crime happen and it is even getting worse and worse til our society will continue to value corruption, violence, destruction, addictions through very cunning TV programms, news, commercial

The best thing to learn from this tragedy is that if you are burgled, check for keys missing and if they are then change your locks immediately and generally if you lose your keys; make sure and change the locks asap.

My heart and my prays are with the parents of this two guys.
Its terrible to see the brutality of human been even in this century of great advance and modernity.
Mauricio, Puebla, Mexico
This is something quite out of the ordinary. There has to be more to this story. Nobody heard anything? Was there shouting? Surely there must have been from the victims? I agree, Kill Bill is an appalling film anyway, but to show it at this time was grossly offensive.
martin, London, UK
I am so sorry for your loss, my heart goes out to you.

This is the result of many years by both Conservative and Labour Governments running the Police Force on a shoestring, relying almost wholly on CCTV cameras which make for "reactive" policing, instead of police patrols which are a basic "prevention" measure.
Neil, Gloucestershire, England
Glad the police realised this week that there is real crime to fight in London as it stated. About tTime to shift the focus from the "war on terror".
Nick B, London,
These photographs make this story even more heartbreaking. Its getting repetitive now, but it has to be said, again. London is well out of control and those in charge are out of touch, ineffective and weak. No-one cares about the causes, just get tough on the crime, for Gods sake.
John, Islington, UK
Shouldn't we have a national appeal to set up a fund (along the lines of a Nobel Prize for Biochemistry, or a bursary for foreign students) in their names? I feel that this incident is a disgrace to Britain. These guys came here as our guests and have suffered an unimaginably terrible fate.
R S Williams, Worcestershire, UK
7-10 years? lol on a good day, no doubt whoever killed these two guys will probably get life reduced to 3 yeras then let out after 6 months to go and kill again. why we dont impose penalties that run into hundreds of years, thus making sure they dont get out is beyond me
cc, liverpool,
I was a girl soldier in London during the war. Everyone helped everyone else and there was a wonderful sense of humour and comradeship during the bombing. People crammed in the underground for refuge and were there for each other when the bombs fell on their homes. What has happened now?
Eileen Langman, Gloucester, England
another tragedy that should not happen, until the british justice system stops being lenient on thugs and terrorists, we can only expect more crime.
Most of these crimes are performed by legal and illegal immigrants when france opened their door to uk for them.
ed, lancs, uk
Is it just me, or is the fact that not one report actually says what they were researching, seem a bit strange. Perhaps this wasn't over two £100 pound game players. These would be easier to steal from a shop. Anyway, my heart does go to the families. A wrongful loss of life shatters everyone.
David, Grays,
I hope the families of the murdered will have the justice they deserve and that the killer or killers are brought to justice. What really needs to end are violent films on tv like Kill Bill, etc. How appaling and what bad taste to have shown it just the other night.
Rob, London, UK
I never thought I would write this next sentence:
Bring back the death penalty.
Nor this one:
Stop talking about tariffs and start talking about tough full term sentences.
I left the UK in 2004 to come to live in New York. That year was the year that I was stabbed by a burglar . Get a grip Britain.
Richard, New York, USA
I agree with Cindy; societies in the West don't seem to do enough to deter criminals. If not the death penalty itself, some remote cellular jails must be introduced to confine sick minds. Punishments handed out of late aren't commensurate with the audacity with which criminals strike.
Srini, London,
Very Very Sad - & you wonder if it is because they are 'green' foreigners coming from a sleepy bit of France-living in a rough part of town -but there are many such people and many bad bits of London; all at a time when there is a 17yr old having petrol poured down his throat - and being set alight
chrisw, lewes, united kingdom
Two ordinary guys, leading ordinary lives. They look so happy and carefree. I hope this gets resolved as quickly as possible.
My thoughts and prayers to the family.
pauline, ashford , kent
If this had happened in the United States, it would be headlines news across the globe. Sadly, Americans who do not read foreign papers never see this ugly side of European life, a society overwhelmed with daily violence that is currently 3x higher than anywhere in the USA.
Martin, Chicago, IL
It's all too easy to predict what the murderers will be like. Young, angry, no dad around, probably of some minority group. What will the liberal ruling elite (from all political parties) do? Absolutely nothing... Excuses will be made. If the killers are caught what can they expect... 7 to 10 years?
David, The Hague, Netherlands
My thoughts and prayers are with the families & friends of these two brilliant young men. A terrible loss to the world, they had so much to offer.
There is no deterrent, the death penalty must be restored, it is all such killers will understand..
I apologise for my countries failings.
Cindy, Kent
