The Times Travel Picture Editor introduces his gallery from the Spanish Capital
Your entries for the Citizen Traveller competition gave me a wanderlust that led all the way to the PHotoEspana festival in Madrid - I've long wanted to combine my predilection for street photography with my work in travel.
I was particularly impressed by the way the festival was so widely celebrated.
Shows take place in venues that range from a fine art museum to an abattoir.
The trip also provided a chance to go digital. I left behind my Leica M6 (my baby), and switched to a Leica M8, which has all the best qualities of the original, but with more convenience.
The festival runs until July 27. Travelling gives you precious time with your camera - make the most of it.
